There will be times, in planning or executing your garden tasks, when you will be required to know how to interpret terms of measurement, and calculate simple formulas to be successful. These are the terms in weights, measures and conversions The Garden Guy has come to know and employ.

Calculate A Cubic Yard Of Gravel, Mulch, or Garden Soil

A cubic yard of material measures 3 feet wide by 3 feet tall by 3 feet deep

3 ft x 3 ft x 3ft = 27 cubic feet or 1 cubic yard.

How Many Bags Of Soil or Mulch Will You Need?

Smaller bags of potting and specialty mixes are sold in bags measured in quarts of material contained in a single bag. Larger bags of garden soils are measured in cubic feet, including bags of less that a cubic foot.
